You would have seen a fair amount of publicity about there being a looming skills shortage. And with the Construction industry, it still remains a dominant concern.
However, a recent survey conducted by Davis Langdon suggests there is a “glimmer of hope, with varying degrees of easing recorded across all trades.”
The Davis Landon survey also revealed that the blame for the Skills Shortage may not solely be ‘failure to plan’ by the Government. Respondents “viewed changing work practices and in particular the use of contractor staff as a major influence.”
They saw this as resulting in lack of continuity and, thereby, limiting the transfer of knowledge.
